چکیده
Exploring the effect of new-type urbanization (NTU) on urban carbon abatement is great practical significance for promoting green construction and coping with challenge global climate change. This study used data from 250 cities in China 2008 to 2020 constructed NTU evaluation indicator system five dimensions. We classical panel regression models examine effects CO2 emissions, further spatial econometric SEM, SAR, SDM identify spillover emissions. The main results are that China’s emissions generally rising, has a significantly negative an impact coefficient −0.9339; conclusions still hold after subsequent robustness tests. Heterogeneity analysis reveals NTU’s more pronounced resource-based cities, old industrial areas, lower levels higher innovation levels. Mechanism shows improving technological optimizing resource allocation important paths realizing emission reduction. noticeable spillover. Our findings provide policy makers solid support driving high-quality development dual-carbon targets.

Examining Determinants of CO2 Emissions in 73 Cities in China
Issues concerning which factors that influence carbon dioxide emission, and which administrative measures should be imposed to reduce carbon emission in Chinese cities, have been on the agenda in cities’ policy-making. Yet little literature has studied this topic from the city level. This paper first measures CO2 emission of 73 Chinese cities. We find heterogeneity embedded in the cross-city di...
متن کاملHow industrialization and urbanization process impacts on CO2 emissions in China: Evidence from nonparametric additive regression models
a r t i c l e i n f o This paper examines the impacts of industrialization and urbanization on CO 2 emissions in China using nonparametric additive regression models and provincial panel data from 1990 to 2011. The empirical results show that there is an inverted U-shaped nonlinear relationship between industrialization and CO 2 emissions in the three regions in China. Urbanization follows an i...
متن کاملAn Empirical Study on the Relationship between Urban Spatial Form and CO2 in Chinese Cities
Although several studies have explained the effect of urbanization on China’s carbon emissions, most have focused on population urbanization, while ignoring the urban spatial form. This study investigates the impact of urban spatial form, measured by residential density, on the evolution of carbon emissions of 108 cities from 2003 to 2013 in China. The main results are as follows: (1) although ...
متن کاملImpact of Financial Development on CO2 Emissions: Panel Data Evidence from Iran’s Economic Sectors
Introduction: The national trend indicates that various provinces of Iran have experienced in attaining economic growth exclusive of parallel observing a boost in CO2 emissions. It is clear that the effects of CO2 emissions on health indicators such as death rate, infant mortality, and health expenditures have been ignored by policy makers over the last decade. Methods: This study for ...
متن کاملEvidence for a significant urbanization effect on climate in China.
China has experienced rapid urbanization and dramatic economic growth since its reform process started in late 1978. In this article, we present evidence for a significant urbanization effect on climate based on analysis of impacts of land-use changes on surface temperature in southeast China, where rapid urbanization has occurred. Our estimated warming of mean surface temperature of 0.05 degre...
